From the Julian Alps to the Trieste Gulf by bike
Passing the old railway station from Trbiž go in direction towards Belopeka Lakes and follow the tarmac cycling path in direction to the Slovenian border. Partially in the shelter of the trees, enjoying in panoramic views, cycle towards Kranjska Gora, a renowned ski and holiday resort at the foot of the Julian Alps. Continue your path through the places rich with history, right up to the picturesque Bled Lake, where the train takes you along a more than hundred-year-old Bohinj track, which once connected Trieste with Vienna, to the Most na Soči. Here you get down from the train and arrive on the sunny side of the Soča Valley into Kobarid. Those who are physically fitter are advised to continue their route to Bovec and meet the beauties of this place. In order to continue the already started tour you return to Most na Soči, from where you continue your cycling trip through Kanal, a picturesque small city connected with the ridge over Soča River. Follow a well-arranged section of the cycling route towards Solkan along the Soča River and railway track. After passing Solkan, cycle through Nova Gorica and across the neighbouring Italian Gorizia. From here, the route takes you to the Slovenian Karst, among monasteries, castles, churches and villages, towards Lipica. Continue along the renowned cycling route Porečanka (Parenzana), passing Koper, Izola and Portorož, all the way up to glorious Sečovlje salt marshes on one or several coastal paths to Piran in opposite direction.
